Welp my parents finally made it up to Wyoming!! They came for Thanksgiving and we had a blast!!! There was no snow on the ground which is a big bummer but it was for sure cold enough to justify hot chocolate!!
We slept in for Black Friday since there was nothing major that we were interested in. Left around 9 and got everything done we wanted to!! It was great!!
A very quick trip but It was fantastic!!
Can't wait to head to Tucson for Christmas!!!

Thirty freakin-five
That would be me on on the 23rd of November.
I promise to be a better blogger....eventually...
My birthday day was FABULOUS!!! Stacy picked me up and took me to brunch where there was a whole group of lovelies there waiting for me to celebrate!! This has never happened to me before!! I was in complete and total shock! We had a blast!!
Got some coolio(Madalyns word) stuff from the kiddos!
ON THE ROTTEN SIDE-----
Apparently my meds and hormones are all messed up. All I want to do is sleep and lay around all day and night!! It is really pretty pitiful, I just have no desire or motivation to do a thing! I talked to my doctor and told him that I was ready for the nursing home. Apparently that isn't how one is supposed to feel as they turn 35. APPARENTLY I am supposed to be rarin to go or something... just not feelin it. All I can think is " I have 65 more years to go???!!!???, GEEZ!!" yea not a good thing I guess. So we (my doc and my kiddos) are in the process of tweeking my life a little bit and actually for the last few days I feel a bit better. (which is probably why I am updating this thing, finally!!) I go back in this week so I can have my hormones evaluated and a bunch of other crap soo hopefully I will have some kind of solution for this crummy whatever you call it......
Anyway, I have tons of goals for my 35th year....they are in my brain somewhere!!! Perhaps in another post???

Blerg!! I am such a slack blogger!!!
Ok really I have no real good excuse for not blogging..I have been kinda busy but waaayyy more LAZY than anything else.
Fall has finally come to Casper. Summer lingered quite a bit longer than we were expecting. We had our last 70 degree day last week and we finally turned on the heater as well. The leaves are all changing, the yellows, reds and browns are so beautiful and the deer and antelope are out in the neighborhoods again. They love the fall almost as much as we do! The rain finally came down last night, after threatening for a week to do so, we are so thankful for it. I was getting very worried about the lack of moisture, as last year this time we already had a little bit of snow on the ground.
Things are a bit busy around here. Kids are having a good time in school! Concert band and Orchestra season will be starting soon for the older kids and Connor starts basketball. The stake reorganized and I have been called as the Young Women Secretary which is a blast!! I love the YW!!! They are so great!! I am also the NCHS Booster Club VP which is a bit busy as well!! I am so glad to be busy though because I have a reason to do something else than to lay around and watch television all day.
So I think I am all caught up......

September Spotlight!!
WOW I cannot believe September has come and gone! We have had a great month!
Everyone has settled nicely into school, although we have had a really hard time with the whole "time to wake up" thing! What a mess! Tyler and Madalyn have full schedules this semester so they have to partake in early morning Seminary which leaves one heck of a MARK!!!
I am thinking we are now in our last week of 80 degree weather which is soo nice!! We are ready for FALL!! Sweaters, boots, hats!! Yay!!! I am a big fan!!
Lets see, finally getting my painting and decorating done!! Yay now I have lots of color which I love!
Trying really hard to get organized so that I can do everything I need to do... I have lots of plates spinning right now with Booster Club, Young Womens, some school I can't seem to quite get it together which is not a surprise!!
Loving September season premiere's.... Bones,30 Rock,NCIS are the good ole oldies!! Chase, Outlaw and Hawaii-5-0 are the New ones that have made the cut!!!
And now we are in the countdown to the holidays!!!! So much fun fun stuff to do!!!

School Year 2010-2011 is here
Well it has actually been here for about a week and a half, but I have been blowing off my blog like it's cool!
School started with no bumps along the way! So GLAD!!! My children are all settled in school.
I now have a Junior AND a Freshman in high school AND a 7th grader AND a 2nd grader!!
I can not believe how quickly time has flown by and continues to do so.
This will be a tough year for them both.
Tyler is slammed with AP classes like Calculus and Chemistry. I think I can safely say that my kid is smarter than I am. He is in a program called the International Baccalaureate(sp) Program at school which is very difficult but will help with college choices.
Madalyn is going to a school that is different from the school that her friends go to. She has having a really hard time adjusting because the people she knows at this school are Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors and the freshmen are very segregated from the upperclassmen. Madalyn really enjoys her social life and she has not very happy that a damper has been put on it.
Madalyn and Tyler are both doing band.Madalyn is playing Sax and Tyler is playing Trombone.
Madalyn is swimming. She really enjoys it and is really good!! I love watching her!
Tyler has chosen not to football this year, but to do Cross Country instead because it keeps him in better shape for swim team which is his passion.
Miss Megan
She is also in a new school. They finished construction on the middle school by our house so we don't have to drive all the way across town now! So excited for that. She is still playing the Violin and loving it! She seems to be doing well so far. She likes the school and of course LOVES her girlyfigure
Mr. Connor
O my gosh this boy!!He is a big second grader now!! I can't believe it! He loves his teacher, she is very kind and loves loves her job. She is a big pusher of reading time so he really enjoys that! Some of his friends are in his class from last year and they are having a blast playing on their GIGANTIC brand spankin new playground!! He is such a fun kiddo!! He starts soccer next week and cannot wait!!!
So I am guessing that is it for school happenings! We are loving the change in the weather. The heat was for the birds!! Fall is definitely around the corner which is evident by the cool nights and the way the shadows are cast just slightly differently during the day! The antelope are starting to be more visible and so are the deer! They love to come and look for some nice green grass to munch on which is hilarious!
That's about it for the beginning of the school year I think. Happy 2010-2011

the summertime homestretch....
Welp we have made it through most of the summer. As I write this we are exactly ONE month away from school starting. So far we have had a pretty great time. It has been very low key with not much going on other than a few trips to the library, trips to the pool and some serious Television marathons!
We DID have a visit from some old friends which should have lasted much longer!!! It was so great for you guys to make the trip Melissa!! I miss you guys tons!!!
The busier part of the summer starts now which is kind of exciting and kinda sad. Exciting because we are going to have a great time together going and doing...Sad because time will fly and before I know it my kiddos will be back busy busy with school and activities.
Tyler went to the Billings Temple on Saturday and had a really great time there. He has now been to 32 states!!
Madalyn won't stop a begging to go to the lake with Brittney. One day i MIGHT say yes bit today is not that day!!
Connor made a new friend behind us! He came up to me after church and let me know that they were in his church class!! Yay!!!
Megan has become quite the Design Star junkie and is extremely mad at me because I will be painting WITHOUT her this week while she is gone.
Girls Camp is this week for Madalyn and Megan. We have nicknamed it "girly camp" because they are in cabins with showers and plumbing. We are packing now and Megan is convinced she is headed to Hollywood. She needs her scarves to accessorize her outfits, she needs 7 outfits for a 3 day camp "just in case"...yea she has some issues.
The girls get home from camp and we leave the next day for EFY in Colorado for a week, home for a week then back to Denver for Connor's birthday and school shopping, and thats about it.
I love love summer and my kiddos. We have had a really really good time so far!!

FUN WITH PICNIK!!
I was looking through facebook and came across these amazing pictures that Madalyn had taken and edited with the FREE online editing software from PICNIK. I am sure that you all know about it but on the off chance that you don't (LIKE ME!!)
Let me show what Madalyn did!! She and Connor went to the store and found a way cool mural to take their pcture in front of------
BEFORE
This is the picture AFTER she Picnik'd it!! All you do is upload your picture onto the FREE website and you can do all sorts of things to it!! She boosted the color and added some lettering! Although it looks like she spilled an entire cherry icee on her shirt it is merely a brightened flower!!! She is great!!!
So I tried my hand at it to see if a non-internet savvy mother could do it and LOOK WHAT I MADE!!
WE PUT CHARLIE IN WATER FOR THIS ONE...HOPE MY MOM AND DAD DON'T MIND
TYLER REALLY HAS AN EYE FOR PICTURE TAKING, THIS IS HIS DANDELION
MY MOTHERS DAY HYDRANGEA---BEFORE
What fun!! We could have all done this for hours!! I am going to develop these on a canvas or just blow them up and have the framed so I can hang them on my wall!! Simple and Cheap and BEAUTIFUL!!!

CLOSURE..
Ok so I am FAT!!! Got your attention huh... hold on tight!! The gloves are off for this one!!
I have spent the last year stressing out about my weight and all the poundage I have put on in the last few years and I have finally decided to just deal with it...I have had 4 children, a buttload of stress in my life over the past few years and I have become quite the fan of GOOD FOOD!!
I keep telling myself that I will not take pictures of myself or buy new clothes because I am gonna lose this weight. To be completely honest the Shape magazine says that my "happy weight" is supposed to be 146 pounds and last week I weighed myself and I was 173... there you have it I am 20 pounds overweight. I have been sooo hard on myself about this the past few months... I have tried cutting out sugar(hate that!!didn't work), walking 5 miles a day(worked for a little while) the HCG diet(ugh! Did I mention I like food way too much!!)... I could go on and on about all the things I have tried but I won't.. ]
The bottom line is that I am 34 years old and on the overweight side and it is not going to bother me anymore. I am not saying that I am going to just give up the ghost and sit and eat pan after pan of enchiladas but it does mean that I am going to go out and buy myself a pair or 2 of relatively expensive size 12 shorts and a size Large shirt that is not on the clearance rack because I deserve to look nice NOW!! TODAY!!Gonna buy myself a good pair of jeans NOW!! Not when i finally have lost all my weight and am back in my clothes I wore in Junior High!!Never Gonna Happen!!
I did order the P90X program which I really do enjoy but I do not intend to follow their diet plan because It does not make me feel very good.. there is a reason there are carbs out there and I intend to eat them. I will work out because it makes my heart healthy, and because It does good for my brain and mental well being, but I am giving all my size 4's,6's and 8's to DI and bidding them good riddance. Those numbers are for another lifetime. If I do by some chance drop down to a size 10 I hope I do not notice because as of now now I plan of enjoying my life in my size 12's! I have sooo many other things I can be doing other than stressing about this crap!!!!
I will be partaking in the Pleated Poppy's "What I wore Wednesday", and I will be taking more pictures of my children with ME in them!!! Because I am tired of looking at photo albums without me in them!! Noone will know what I look like or that I even existed if I don't change this! And as of right now I am CHANGING THIS!!!!!
So there you go! Feel free to gasp about the fact that I put my weight out there and feel free to call one another and talk about how you can't believe how much weight I have gained and how I "Used to Look" I am going to go shopping now!!!(well tomorrow, today is Sunday and I don't shop on Sundays)

My desert dweller
Madalyn and Megan went to the pool with her girlie friends yesterday which, for Megan, started out to be tons o fun but ended with a nice cocktail of allergy meds.
The pool is not far from the house they were all meeting at so they walked there. No big deal for the majority of humanity but Megan, who I have nicknamed my little desert dweller, had a hard time.
Ya see Casper is covered in thick green grass and trees which is completely beautiful but for Megan it has,on a few occasions, turned into a horrible curse! She has NEVER been around grass before. Anyway, they trecked to the pool and swam for several hours and suffered the consequences of a lack of sunscreen!
All the girlies came to my house to eat dinner(5 GIRLS!!). They lathered their red skin with lotion and whatever else they could find in my bathrooms and prepped for mutual. Megan, however did not burn anywhere but her face. I was checking everyone out and notices her eyes were bright red and just blew it off as too much chlorine.....NOPE....
Well we ate our Spaghetti and Megan ate her pizza(another story completely) and went to mutual which was supposed to be at the church but got changed to the park. About a half an hour in Megan came up to me sneezing, scratching her throat and rubbing her SWOLLEN, EYES!! She was miserable! Let me say again Megan has never been around grass! She is a Desert Dweller!!! She didn't last the entire activity. We had to leave early. By the time we got home her eyes were tearing, I could hear her wheezing, and she could not stop sneezing. I gave her allergy meds followed by a nice Benadryl cocktail and she STILL couldn't fall asleep for a good few hours!! It was insane!
Thankfully she woke up this morning with nothing but a sunburn and a little bit of a sniffly nose. Looks like our sweet doctor will be blessed with our presence yet again this week for a refill of Singulair!!

I have posted lots of pictures of Charlie on my Facebook but haven't said much about him so I figured I would do both here since I haven't had much to say and he is a BLAST to talk about!!
Charlie is a product of my brothers full bred Bloodhound, Collijah and his South Korean mutt Sophie. My parents drove out to Fort Benning to pick him up as a teeny tiny puppy. 5 months and about 40 pounds later he is SOME doggie!!
Charlie has bonded quite a bit with my mother. To the point that, when my dad got back from ROTC camp,he began proving that my mother was HIS property by peeing on ONLY my fathers things!!! My brother said there was an easy remedy for this and all my dad had to do was go toe to toe with this dog by peeing on Charlies things. Needless to say he did not do this. Charlie's territory issues soon subsided when he realized that the ENTIRE BACKYARD was all his, from my mothers strawberry plants on one side to the climbing viney things on the other side. Each day has been a new adventure for my mother being able to wake up to find out what glorious new changes await her in the backyard...
Because Charlie is part Bloodhound he is gonna be a LARGE DOG!!! He proved his strength during his first month by stepping THROUGH my parents screen door...
Sooo my mother enrolled Charlie in doggy school at her local Pets Mart. Each and every Saturday mom and Charlie ventured out into the world to learn how to be a good dog. Charlie has learned to sit, stay, wait, heal without an act of God! Charlie has gone from thinking every finger is a Pupperoni to actually waiting for the treat to be offered because he did good!! Today Charlie graduated from Puppy School and it was quite the celebration!! He gets to wear a cap and gets a certificate as well!!
As a special treat he got to ride in the middle and in Saab ALL THE WAY HOME !!
Charlie is quite the artistic pup as well!! He does have some hound dog in him as previously stated but he only uses this beautiful serenade when he is accompanying Annabeth as she practices her Cello, any other day he is just blissfully, dorkily silent and happy!!! I have the video but can't quite figure out how to make it show up on my blog... bummer
Anyway that is Charlie in a nutshell he is a blast and we love to talk about him!!! We can not wait to meet him!!!

Our summer is going pretty great so far!!! Kids are just hanging out around the house for the most part!!
!I sent Tyler outside to take pictures of my flowers yesterday so he went outside yesterday with my camera and found some spectacular pictures! He has a great eye! I'll put them up later today as soon as I find my cord that downloads things.(ok maybe tomorrow)
Our trip to Tucson has been pushed back to August because of some activities here and because my brother Austen gets home from his mission in August and we reeeeeaaaaalllllyyyy want to see him!! Kind of a bummer that we can't be there now but weather wise we are lucking out!! Apparently it is hovering around 107 there while we are in the 70's....
So thats about it... not really much to say I guess....hmm maybe later...

Summertime!!

The ABC's of the 2009-2010 School Year
So the 2009-2010 school year has just about come to a close so I have decided to make a little compelation of the things that have happened in the lives of my sweet kiddos!!
A- the 3 school issued Apple laptops that were double edged swords around my house
B- Amazing buddies that the kids have met as they have settled into out new community
C- my sweet Connor who has learned to read on his own.He loves the Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
D-the Drivers License that my baby boy got last week for his 16th birthday
E- the Entourage of kids from school that come to the door each day after school looking to play Star Wars with Connor
F- all the small town Fall Football we watched Tyler play!! He was on the offensive line, and that is all I know.
G-the Goofy,Goofy friends Miss Madalyn has!! They are a blast!!!
H-the House we have been able to make memories in and the size of said House which allows us to make memories without killing eachother!!
I- the Inches and Inches of snow that fell and STILL didn't warrant a snow day!!
J-Johnny J's---the delicious fifties style restaurant that we go when we ditch school for dentist, doctors and so on...
K- Kelly Walsh----the rival school with the awesome pool!! We have a love hate relationship
L-Long long hours of homework we have done with Madalyn to make sure she has everything done and turned in on time
M-Mustangs--our High school mascot school Mascot
N- the late Nights we waited up for Tyler, Madalyn and Megan to get home from extra cirricular activities!!
O-the Great Horned Owl that Connor and I have to check out when we drive to and from school each day..he has named the mom Luke and I have named the baby batman..
P-the Permit Tyler forgot to get when he went to raise money for Haiti and the Police that questioned him and the rest of the student council in front of Albertsons...
Q- the trememdous quantity of school papers laying around my house on any given afternoon!!
R-Restriction---enough said...lots of that went around
S-Swim Team!!!! Tyler made it to state, Madalyn's coach told her if she fixed one thing with her foot in breast stroke she would be one of the best!!Megan tried out diving and didn't like it so she went back to swimming!!!
T- Track was a blast! The weather was great for the season, Tyler made it to regionals in Pole Vault! Yay!
U- the ton of Unexcused tardies the girls had because they don't enjoy getting up in the morning!!
V-the Violin that Megan has done a fantastic job learning to play!!
W-Wyoming Wind which made/make things a little rough during some activities....
X-the x-cellent voice Madalyn has when she sings in choir!!
Y-all the Yelling (at the girlies in particular) to get into the car so we wouldn't be late for school!!!(it didn't help much)
Z-zapped by my kids alot of times for accidentally calling them in the middle of class...oops
So there ya have it.... just a few things that have happened in the family during this school year!
It has flown by!
As of next week I will have both a Junior and a Freshman as well as a 7th and a 2nd grader!!!
I can't believe how fast life is passing!!!

CONNORISMS
This morning was a fun morning!!!Holy moly, talk about a hoot!!! Connor had some gems so I thought I would take a minute to write them down.....
We had fried chicken last night and Connor asked me if he could have the "wishstick"
It is supposed to snow today(yep snow in May..my mailman says he knows when its Spring when the Tulips come up and the snow covers them one time...so the Tulips are up) and I sent Connor in to get his gloves so he would have them just in case it started before this afternoon. He came out wearing 2 different ones and I asked him why. He said he wanted to look like Anikin Skywalker...
I told him the April Showers bring Mayflowers joke(the one with the Pilgrims)... took him a few minutes but he got it...I asked him what other holiday celebrated Pilgrims and he said "the one where we eat the chicken" YEP!
he has become quite the character recently... currently he and his friend that lives behind us are practicing to be ninjas so that they can fight off the clones because "they ARE real you know,mom"....of course I did agree with him, they are real. I just didn't have the heart to tell the boy he would be fighting off one sheep named Dolly.....

Mother's Day....
It's Tuesday and that's not too late to write about my mothers day right???
This Mother's day was soo nice!!!
The girls made me picture frames and wrote me letters in Young Women's(being one of the leaders I kinda had a heads up that they were gonna give me them because it was one of our Mutual activities) which I loved tons!!!Connor made me a card and planted me a flower in a decorated bowl during school. It was kinda tough getting him in the car and driving home "not looking" at my present because It wasn't Mother's Day yet but I managed to get it done(wink) I just LOVE the handmade gifts! They have a special place in my heart! Not that your's wasn't just as special Tyler!! Tyler is 5 days from getting his drivers liscense so I have been breaking the law a little and letting him drive a few places by himself....he was able to sneak away to Hell Mart and get me a Hydrangea(how did you know????) and a box of yummy chocolates with his very own money!!! Weird and cool at the same time!!! I LOVE MY CHILDREN THEY ROCK!!!
We spent the afternoon watching an old season of the Office on the couch and had twice baked potatoes for dinner! It was a beautiful night so I sat outside with Connor and Madalyn while he played with the kiddo behind us!
I love my job as a mommy and I am sooo glad that my kiddos appreciate the sacrifices we have made so that they can have thier mommy home taking care of them all the day long!!!!

Told you I would blog about this.....
Before I start this let me just reassure those of my fam and friends(present and future) that read this note that the week did end nicely..
Ok so Thursday was the day of appointments.. Tyler had a dentist appointment and then he and I had eye doctor appointments, so I was dressed and ready for the day and not driving the kids to school in my pajamas(you would think I have learned my lesson as it seems that I manage to get pulled over only on the days I do this!!) Anyway dropped the kids off and we headed to our appointments.
I have been totally blowing off my vision lately and haven't worn my contacts in years and since it is pretty dry up here my doctor wanted me to experiment with some new contacts. Well I haven't put anything in my eyes in about 2 years which means that I was NOT good at it!! I managed to smear mascara all over my eyelids which was then completely wiped off with a wet tissue which left nothing on my eyes and those of you who know me know that with no make up on I look like something that just got pulled out of a drain.
We left the doctors and headed to Johny J's( a way way yummy fifties diner that Tyler has never been to) I put some mascara on in the car and was able to redeem my face a little bit but was still dreading running into anyone for fear of causing a public panic!!(yes I saw you and Lorraine Wendy, but there was no way I was gonna subject you to my humiliation) Well I ate wayyyyy too much at this place so I went home and changed out of my clothes(jeans and a green sweater and my zebra shoes) and into my scrubs and the first T i pulled out which happened to have red Kool Aid stains all over it. I didn't care about this because I was gonna take a long winters nap........ which I did!!!
Ok have I painted a good enough picture for you???
Well I woke up from my nap and grabbed the 2 gallons of lemonade that I had to take to Tylers school for his track team dinner, put on my flip flops and headed out. I am the mom that hides behind the scenes and thrives there. I DO NOT help in the classroom,I DO NOT plan and execute any kind of dinner, lunch brunch or banquet WHATSOEVER!!! I will bring or make ANYTHING you want me to.. i will give rides...and I will write checks but I am not THAT MOM. So I slipped into the cafeteria planning to stealthily make an entrance and an exit before anyone saw me......
That plan backfired!!!!! The mom who was in charged walked in and said,"good we have plenty of servers, you go and do the noodles" What the WHAT???!!!
So there I was in the cafeteria surrounded by the FRONTLINE mom's in my scrubs and my stained -t with residually smeared make-up and a "just woke up face" serving pasta......mmmmm yea
so needless to say I trashed the T, and went shopping yesterday for a new outfit.....still wanna be the "behind the scenes mom" but, if for some reason I get put there..... I will be dressed and ready!!!

My Journal Jar
This last week we talked about journals and how important it is to keep a record of who you are and what you are all about so your children and your children's children know your story. It was soo way cool to encourage the YW at such a young age to keep a journal. I have just barely begun to journal fairly often. I have dabbled in it throughout the years but I usually don't keep with it but this time I am managing to do pretty well which takes care of the here and now and the happenings of today.....but what about yesteryear!!?? I have years to catch up on before i totally forget everything!!
I have decided to KIPE Madalyn's journal jar and take a slip out of it once a week and write about what is on the little paper. This way I will be writing a little more about past experiences...and heck knows I have plenty!!(i'm freakin old!!)
So I figured I would start today and I went into Madalyn's room to get her jar, thinking that it would be a cinch to just pull out a little slip and start writing...clearly I am gonna have to make my own!! It has questions like "what is your fave class", and" if you could own any car what would it be?"(I can totally answer that one by the way..a Denali!)
Anyway, I dug around the jar and hunted for one and this is what I found....
WHAT IS YOUR FAVE PIE,CAN YOU MAKE IT?HAVE YOU TRIED??
My favorite pie is Pecan. Every holiday when I was growing up my grandmother would have a "pie table" she would spend days before making all kinds of pies...chocolate cream(a close second),vanilla cream and pecan are the ones I can remember. Pecan was always the best!!
I can make Pecan pie, I use a family recipe that I got from my mother in law and it is fantastic!! I love it and I try to make it every holiday along w the others that my grandmother made in memory of her I guess.
So yea there you have it...my first journal jar entry!!

Young Womens
Over the years I have spent time in various church callings. I have been in Relief Society as a teacher( a calling I absulutely LOVE!!), I have been in Nursery and primary( ugh! gag!! I know everybody loves Primary right??nope! not me!), Family History(fun times!), Visiting Teaching Supervisor(ANXIETY!) and these days I have landed myself in Young Womens. I love Young Womens! I am in with the Beehives and let me tell you what!I LOVE THOSE GIRLS!!! We have a blast!! Every once in a while, myself and the other leaders have to lay a "smack down" on them for acting "beehive-ish" but for the most part what a fun fantastic calling I have been blessed with!
I am with these girlies 2 days a week, Wednsday and Sunday and let me tell you what they make me want to be a better person!!! Just when I think that nothing about the gospel has sunk in to anyone they say something or do something that proves me wrong and strengthens my testimony of just about EVERYTHING!!! I can only imagine how it will be when they come home from Girls Camp
....and don't even get me started on Personal Progress!!! HOW FUN IS THAT!! I didnt get to do Personal Progress when I was a YM so I am doing it not only with my daughters, but also with the Young Women I teach!! I am so excited about this!
Anyway I LOVE MY CALLING!!

Happiness is.......
Happiness is.....getting an email from Madalyns teacher informing me of her missing assignments and her need to stay after school to complete them.....and while reading that email on my Blackberry, where I recieve my emails, getting a phone call from Connor's teacher informing me of his choice not to stay on task, but to "lay down on the fish carpet and hang out instead"..... THAT RIGHT THERE IS HAPPINESS TO ME!!!!
I'M GOIN TO GET A DR. PEPPER!!!MY KIDDOS ROCK!!!!

The Nicolds and the Blustery Blustery Spring!!
The weather has been changing quite a bit up here which is really nice! The temps have been in the 60's and 70's with some 50's here and there! The one thing that is super crazy about this place is the wind!! We have high wind warnings all the time! Winds from 20-30mph w up to 60 mph gusts! It totally reminds me of the springs in Morenci!!! I LOVE running in it in the absolute HEAT of the day! Keeps me cool! It is also fun to listen to at night when it is quiet and everyone is sleeping1
I am so so glad to be somewhere with 4 seasons!! The grass is starting to green up and the grand opening at Galas Greenhouse is tomorrow!! I cant wait!! The growing season is perfect for my adult ADD and freaky snake fears! In Arizona I usually started out my season with Gusto, completely excited at the prospect of gardening and crops, but at the first sign or talk of a snake I was DONE!!!! While there are snakes here they are few and far between AND the growing season allows me to plant plants, and enjoy the harvest between the months of April and September!! PERFECT!!
Swim team is over for the girls now. They had a really really good time and they both do really well at it(wonder why? could it be that I will have nothing LESS!!) The coach was phenomenal and told Madalyn that once she fixes a couple glitches in her breast stroke she should be one of the better ones in the state..way cool!! Megan went back and forth between wanting to swim and wanting to dive...swimming won in the end thankfully!! (cant say that I enjoy watching diving all that much)
Tyler is running track these days and is enjoying it as well. He is pole vaulting (really hard for a mom to watch), hurdling(I totally thought he was gonna suck at it but he is AWESOME) He also dabbles a little in the long jump which he enjoys and I just do not GET! With the winds here, track meets are rough! You definately have to figure out how to make it work for you, which these kids do very well! There are some amazing athletes at this school!!
Connor continues to be Connor!! Got booted from his primary class for who knows what! Can't quite stay on task at school because he is too busy planning his next attack on the Sith Lord!!(Star Wars) He starts swim team in May and cannot wait...neither can I!!THE BOY NEEDS AN OUTLET!
Kelley is just hangin out doing his thing. He got a raise which is fantabulous and will help with out Arizona trip and getting the older two to EFY in Colorado! He is really enjoying his job and it seems very stable compared to the industry he was in previously. Since his heart-diabetes scare a year ago he has lost 40 pounds!!!He feels great and his health is much much better! We have tons of projects to undertake now that the weather is warmer and we are both very excited about that!!
I think that is just about it.....yea I got nothing else!
6PM NO MATTER WHAT!!!
I have to say that this session of conference I have really enjoyed!! I even learned something from the "in between shows".
After the morning session we usually leave it on the BYU channel for a little while and i am so glad that we do that! I would have never found the food nanny if we had changed it right away!!. She is this cute little lady that travels helping people who have dinner issues. This episode she said that the family needs 3 things in order to have a nice family dinner.
1. Dinner at the same time each night. This family in particular chose 6, which works very well with me because my kids are walking in the door between 5:30 and 5:50. She made the vocally commit and say 6PM NO MATTER WHAT!
2. Good food. She said that it is good to have a 2 week menu and fun for the kids to have a theme for each night, such as Mexican on every Monday, Traditional every Sunday and so on. She said the menu helps avoid the 4PM panic. I totally know how that goes. She said 4PM is too late to be figuring out dinner!! AMEN!! She also gave a really good recipe for homemade French bread that only had 5 ingredients!!!SWEET!! She said that my children NEED to smell the smells of dinner cooking, that it is good for them!!
3.Good dinner conversation. This one is a tough one for me because I feel like we are always griping at the kids for taking too big bites and not using manners!! But she said for the first few months use a journal jar type thing and pass it around the table to have each kiddo answer a question and after a while it will get easier to start a conversation!!
This totally relit my fire for family dinner!!!I am so excited to give it a go!! I made my menu and have my plan!!! My new battle cry is 6PM NO MATTER WHAT!!

Media Fast
Soooo. My hottie sister who lives in a place other than where I live(hi Annabeth!!!)
called the other day, Monday to be exact to let me know of a challenge that her Seminary teacher had issued to them. She was challenged to fast from any type of media for the week leaking up to General Conference. This included cells,TV,Computer,radio....any type of media!!They wanted the kids to really gear up for the weekend so they would be very receptive to the speakers and the spirit. Annabeth did a really good job!! She had a really hard time doing this but she got sooo much done and today she was able to take 5 pages of notes. For the SATURDAY session even!!!!What a rock star!!!!
Sooo today, while I was listening to Elder Holland talk(my personal favorite!!) I thought to myself "self, you really need to try this challenge that Annabeth did, It would really help with your technology overload!"
Soooo this week I am going on a Media Fast, no Facebook, no poker, no Insant messanging, no NCIS,Bones,The Office and so on and so on....... I think this may be the hardest thing I have done in a while but I am hoping to accomplish alot and cut the "Technology cord "Of course I will still have my actual cell part of my blackberry so my kiddos can get in touch with me but other than that I am checking out!!!

The Weather
Woke up to a beautiful 2 inches of snow this morning. Looks like it might be the last big snow of the season so I am going to make the most of it!! Think I'll bake some cookies for the kiddos, Chilli for dinner.YUMMO!! I love days like this!!. Tylers track meet got cancelled, but the girls swim meet is still on but it doesn't start till 3 which means I do not have to go anywhere this morning!! YAY!!! Think I'll curl up on my couch and watch Regis and Kelly or an old episode of NCIS!!!
With the exception of the occaissonal cold snap coupled with rainy snow, the weather is starting to get beautiful!! Grass is getting green and the trees are trying to bloom!! I have tons of spots in my back yard to plant some funness like blueberries which I am sooo excited for!! I couldn't quite plant them in Arizona but they will take off here which means home canned syrup in the late summer, early fall!! Haven't quite figured out what else to plant yet but Sam's club has tons of plants ready to go so I think I will be spending quite a bit of time there!! I LOVE the change in seasons, whether it is from summer to fall, fall to winter, or winter to spring. It gives me so much inspiration to make tons of new goals!!!

Today I am not.....
Today I am not sitting in a trashed house
Today I am not working on my second starbucks chocolate cocktail
Today I am not filthy from not showering
Today I am not thinking about those last 2 twinkies in my cupboard and having them for dinner
Today I am not riding around on a broomstick wanting to ring the kids neck who ruined Standards Night for Tyler!!
Today I am not dreading waiting up till 11pm for my girlies to get home from their swim meet because I am a little tired!!
Today I am not any of these things.......maybe tomorrow.
(p.s. if you can not read this blog with my voice drenched in sarcasm, shame on you!!!!)

Megan's Surgery
Since Megan was a little girl she has had some speech issues, specifically her R pronunciation. After years of worry we finally got her into therapy in school and after 2 years her grandma suggested to me who suggested to her therapist that it may be a physical impossibility for her to make her tongue the actual movement because it is too short. Well her orthodontist said that she needed some teeth pulled. Since the oral surgeon was taking the teeth out we went ahead and had him do her tongue also.
We did her surgery on last Thursday and it went very well. She was hilarious coming out of her anesthesia, talking a about wanting to take the recover chair home, as well as the blanket. Oh she also wanted to stop on the way home at school and take her standardized test that she was missing.
She has recovered well. She wont let me take any pictures which is a bummer because they are pretty cool looking!! Her tongue has gone from 3 times the size to only twice the size. She no longer has to use sign language to communicate and she is off ICEES and pudding. Tonight she had her first pizza in five days!!! She finally goes back to school tomorrow and we start some intense rehab therapy as well as speech but we are really excited about finally getting this all taken care of!! It has been a really long time coming!!!!

WICKED!!!
No this blog is not about me!! I realize that it soooo could be, sorry to dissapoint, maybe next time though!!!
Anyway, GLEE is a big thing in our house these days. It is some amazing music from so many different genres that it keeps everyone in the family entertained. It also exposes us to songs that are not on the radio(Broadway, blues, oldies) which, I think is so good for the kids AND MYSELF!!
One of the episodes last season highlighted the song "Defying Gravity" from the Broadway musical "Wicked". The girls that sang it on the show did a great job!! This intrigued me....I have seen several pictures of friends who have gone to see the musical and heard great things about it that, when I heard this song on Glee I decided to check out what the hype is about.
Well, the musical is coming to Phoenix this summer while I am in Arizona so, as case in movie/book etequite, I bought the book so that I could compare it to the musical when my mother and I go see it.
PLAN A
I figured I would follow the rules...
1. read the book
2. see the play
3. love the play
4. buy the soundtrack
5. Obsess about how amazing the entire experience is!!!
Soooo I went to Target and bought the book, started it while I was waiting for the girls to get out of swim team. Came home and got dinner and happened to post on my Facebook that I bought the book well that didnt help my plan!!! Thanks LADIES!! Apparently it is a kinda freaky book which i fully intend to give a chance. BUT they also pointed out that the soundtrack is freakin amazing!!!And the musical is amazing!! Which made me change how I am going to experience "Wicked"
PLAN B
1. Already "itunes'd" the soundtrack(holy greatness!!!)
2. Still reading the book, not turned off yet, will let ya know
3. obsess about the soundtrack
4.obsess about the musical
5. see the musical and join the masses!!!

We are headed to Tucson the end of May for a month and a half and I will maybe be in shape to wear sundresses and shorts!!!! WooHoo!!!

Tyler
So this past week I bought a Ford Expedition.. Dont freak Melissa!! I took your advice, kinda. Didnt buy as new as I wanted and was almost almost able to pay cash(thank you Uncle Sam!!) Anyway, the thinking is buy the Expedition me for now and then hand it down to Tyler when he turns 16, and then get me a newer one then. I have decided this is too big a vehicle for Tyler and he has decided he wants a jeep. This works out better for us both.
Anyway I told that story to tell you this one. Tyler turns 16 in 2 months and 9 days!!!
My baby will be able to drive, date, and so on!!
We have already been getting college invitation letters in the mail, not to mention the Marines and the Army want him in a big way!!( I told him to give them my dads phone number and if he says Tyler can join than its ok with me)
The girls got new full size beds last month and Tyler was going to get the same thing, but I started thinking he can't take a full size bed to a dorm. How can I be thinking this!!!!! Already!!! He was just playing in the wading pool out in front of the blue house on Stadium Avenue!!
Now, he is driving me all around town, deciding to get rid of his Facebook because it was taking up too much of his time(not even MY idea)!!
I am soo impressed with the young man he has become, he is 3 merit badges and one project from getting his Eagle Scout which he wants to wait till my brother gets home before he completes it(again, not my idea)
He will be a Junior in High School in 2 months!!Then he will be 2 years from graduation,3 years from serving a mission!!!
This can't be this close to happening!!
Time has flown by and I have sooo many regrets!! I should have read more books, played more legos, taken more walks and so on!!! I can say that we have had a blast together. We are so close to eachother and I am thankful for that. Thankful for the late night talks, early morning Seminary runs, and the connection that we have!! He is such a great man to me and to those around him!!
I just wish this time was not going to fly by so quickly!!While I am anxious to see the adults they will become, I love my children!! They are my best friends and I love that I have been blessed to be their mother!!

Megan is the big 12!!
So Megan turned 12 on the 22 of January! I cannot believe I have 2 young women in my house! Time seems to be flying so quickly as far as my babies go!!
sooo here are some things about Megan and her life right now....
Megan is extremely extremely into the show "What not to Wear"..her favorite phrase is "it doesn't have to match, it just has to go"
She still is a very picky eater, only eats about 5 things but we are hoping that changes after her surgery. She is getting her tongue clipped which, according to her speech pathologist, will help with her "R" pronunciation, as well as her palate and food choices.( soooo wish someone would have caught all this sooner!!)
She loves Taylor Swift!!! Loves to sing and loves to dance!!
Still playing the violin!!
Swimming
Favorite color is purple
wants to be a Forensic Anthropologist when she grows up
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
She got her bedroom redone for her birthday which included a new full size bed! Man does she sleep well now!! She also got to have a big slumber/birthday party. I am sooo not that mother but i sucked it up and survived it without killing any little girls.Tyler was gone to a swim meet out of town so it was just me, Connor and all those girlies. The had so much fun eating tons of crap and staying up late!! I went to bed once it was relatively quiet, around 2am. I am way too old for that!
Anyway all in all it was a great day for this little girl!!! Megan I love you to the moon!!!!

From FRAT house to normal house....FINALLY!!!
Ok so I have not dropped from sight.... ok maybe i have but I have really really good reasons!!!! Here in Wyoming we have 3 weeks for Christmas break which means no schedules for us which is fabulous for the first few days but creates some serious issues from then on!!! Add to that the fact that we got a Wii for Christmas from my parents and reconnecting with old friends on Facebook and you have a recipe for disaster and a really really rough Monday back to school!!!
Like I eluded to in the title of this post my house basically became a Frat house over the break... not only because of my children but also because of myself!!! They were up till all hours of the night playing Wii and catching up on whatever shows they had missed via Netflix and I was up as well!! With all the free time I had it was very easy to get carried away playing virtual poker, reuniting w old friends, reminiscing and planning reunions!! This led to some 2 and 3am bedtimes and noon wake up times(havent done that since I had infants)...
This weekend I spent the time walking around the house with a gigantic black garbage bag picking up pudding cups, cereal bar wrappers, vacuuming the nerds off the basement floors and, at times, wishing I had made the choice to have puppies instead of children!!!
We DID do some productive things over break!!(well maybe not productive, but waaayyy fun!!)
We went sledding
played phase ten with everyone(even Connor!!)\
I BOOKED MY BLOG!!!I have been keeping this blog as a journal and I got the first installment published!!! I am sooo excited to see how it turned out!!!
Got my hair done which was very badly needed!!!
Me and my girls snuck out of the house at midnight one night to go and get frostys which was probably the most fun for me!!!
Finally got to watch Tyler swim!! His meets have been away all season and he finally had a home one!!!
Did some rearranging of the furniture and made plans of what to do w the house during the new year!!Cant wait!!
Sooo there you have it!! That is where I have been!! Partying w my kiddos!! Staying up late and sleeping all day!!Just being a gigantic gigantic SLUG!!! Needless to say today is very very rough!! I feel like I have been hit by a bus!!!I have sooo much to catch up on with housework and getting myself ready for MY semester next week that it is insane!!! But it was all worth it!!

2010 and my list of goals...its gonna be a good year!!!!
Ok so I looked at my resolutions from last year and I decided that I am gonna try them again this year. Lets face it, last year I just resolved to survive with my sanity intact and nothing more!! Instead of just trying these reolutions again I am gonna add a few as well just so I can have a nice full plate!!
REsOLUTION # 1 ---- Be ready for the "pop in"
Now this is one of those "do over's" from 2009. I am determined to make my house a nice, comfy, home. This includes some major paint and decorating which I am sooo not good at but I am going to make myself be good at it!! Now once this is done I am resolving to make sure that my house in clean! That means beds made, laundry put away, all the things that will ensure that my house is ready for the friends Tyler pops in with, as well as Visiting teachers or whomever else may decide to show up! This year I resolve to be ready!!!
REsOLUTION #2-----Be ready for the picture!!(this will be a rough one)
During Christmas 2008 my mother put together this Christmas slide show type Christmas card to email to members of our family far away. Well she was able to find pictures of every single family member except me!! I do a wonderful job hiding from the camera, always have. I always find some excuse i.e " my hair isn't done, i don't have make up on, i look chubby, etc." so this year i am going to work on all those things so I will be ready when there is a camera around. I figure whoever is doing my family history work fifty years from now will appreciate this!! This includes not leaving my house without being "ready for the day", making sure I work out and eat right, and all those little things that go with taking care of myself. This includes deciding to train for not only another half marathon in April, but also a full by the end of the summer!!
RESOLUTION#3
I just read on my friends blog that her RS Presidency challenged them to read the Book of Mormon all the way by May.... I am sooo in!!!
These are my three major resolutions this year along with several mini resolutions such as drink more water, wake up before my children, finish my courses for school, and wear more jewelry........
Sooooo super long story short?? I resolve to take better care of my house and myself in 2009. Will it work??? Who knows, but at least I have a plan!!
